MLA Setup in Google Docs

MLA Setup in Google Docs
Click File → Page Setup
  1. Set Top, Left, and right margins to 1 inch
  2. Set the bottom margin to 0.7 inch
Line Spacing:
  1. Click Format → Line Spacing → Custom Spacing (see image below)
  2. Set the line spacing to 1.91
Header
  1. Click in the Header area of your document
  2. Change the font to Times New Roman, 12
  3. For a ½” header margin, push Enter twice before typing


Page number
  1. Click Insert → Page number
  2. If you don’t have a ½” header margin above your page number, be sure to click Enter twice before the page number to bring it down


Hanging Indent for Works Cited

  1. After you have typed your Works Cited, highlight all of the text of your Works Cited
  2. Grab the little bar on the ruler at the top and drag it to the right. When you hover your mouse over it, you will see “First Line Indent”.
  3. Be sure that you don’t also drag the inverted triangle as that will indent all lines
